"Modern Architect" |
When I was running around campus taking pictures (I would be lying if I said walking) I came across this building attached to the UofM art museum. Upon further exploration, I found out that this building is the Alumni Memorial Hall. The second I saw this building, the glass and the steel beams caught my eye, creating a very modern look, which I love in photography. I love the edit of the sky in the picture "Artificial Skies" because the natural light of daytime on the building and the darkness of the fake night sky really mess with your mind, creating wonderful contrast in the photo. With this building being right next to the Art Museum, I'm sure it's constantly overlooked, so I wanted to dedicate a part of my photography to this special building. |
"Castle Plans" |
This building is Jeffries Hall, and it's one of the many beautiful buildings on Michigan's Law campus. This is actually the building my mom works in. When I saw this building, the old architecture immediately caught my eyes. The smooth, stone blocks designed in an intriguing pattern were none like I've ever seen before. For the first edited picture, I added a red hue to the building, and turned up the contrast. For the second picture, I turned down the brightness and increased to contrast too. |
"Building Buildings" |
These are pictures of the magical Law School dining hall. My favorite part about these pictures is by far the fiery glow of the windows on the building. This adds a dramatic splash of color to the image, contrasting with the darker colors of the building. For my first image I increased the contrast of the picture, to really make the windows glow. I also made sure to take the picture with some dark tree branches, to give it an eery and creepy vibe. For the second picture, I edited the sky to make it look like dusk. This gave the building kind of a moonlit glow, and it was the perfect opportunity to make the flaming colors of the windows pop. |
"Big Ben?""Tower Sketch" |
"Masked"When I first thought about taking architecture photos, my first thought was I had to take one of this clocktower. Everyone knows it, and it could very well be one of the most famous buildings in downtown Ann Arbor. For the first image, I cropped out the tower and made it brighter than the background, to make the image really pop out against the sky. For the second picture, I increased the contrast of the tower and added a blueish hue to the top to make the colors splash. |
"Project Planning" |
When I was walking from the Law School over to photograph the clock tower, I spotted the Museum of Natural Art. The articulate detail and the pillars immediately caught my attention, and I knew I had to stop for a few photos. In the first picture, I increased the contrast and saturation and added a red hue to the photo, to make the colors pop. For the second photo, I increased the contrast and decreased the brightness. I also made sure to get a shot of the archway to get into the Law School quad in the photo, to add a little touch to the photo. |
