"Submerged Logs" |
I took this picture on a frozen pond about a 20 minute walk from my house. My brother and I play hockey on this pond when it freezes, and it means a lot to me because this is the last year I can play with him before he leaves for college. I wanted to convey what I call a "dead winter" feeling. This is when all the trees are dead, and prime, snowy, winter is over. I put my phone down on the ice to try and get a nice foreground. |
"Blue Forest" |
I took these pictures as I was driving out in the country with my brother. I really like these pictures because you can see some of the snowflakes in the air as they actively fall. I love the snow on trees during the winter, and I also love forests in the winter. You'll see these feelings represented in all of my landscape photos. |
"Fallen" |
I took these photos on Divine Trail, which is a little nature path out in the woods in Saline. My family normally walks there in the fall to see the colorful leaves, but I wanted to go take some pictures to see what it was like in the Winter. I took a picture straight in the air because I envisioned a cool oil painting pattern on the branches, and I think they turned out really well. For the "Fallen" picture, I increased the contrast and turned up the brightness. |
"Fading Day" |
I took this picture in a woods near where I play baseball. While taking this photo I tried to focus the camera on the cat tails, and have the rest of the woods in the background. It took a few tries, but I eventually got it. For my second picture, I wanted to get the base of the cat tails a bit more and get the brown of the cat tails to contrast with the blue of the sky. |
"Royal Skies" |
I took this picture in the Hudson Mills Metropark. I chose to capture this photo because of the green of the pine tree. Since coniferous trees don't lose their needles during the winter unlike normal trees lose their leaves, they stay green all year round. I like how the green in the tree contrasts with the brown of all of the other trees. |
